Immigration Evaluations
Navigating the United States immigration process is understandably overwhelming. Unity Therapy Services in Temecula, CA in Riverside County brings years of experience and our team is bilingual, culturally competent and very welcoming. We are strong advocates for everyone that walks through our door and our participation in your immigration journey can add one more layer of meaningful support in your case.
Immigration Evaluation Options
The following immigration evaluations we provide are detailed below. We have bilingual providers (Spanish) and offer evaluations in-person or through video telehealth.
Extreme Hardship Waivers & Cancellation of Removal:
-
- An Extreme Psychological Hardship evaluation supports immigration waiver cases where the deportation of a family member would cause significant emotional, psychological, or practical hardship to a U.S. citizen or Lawful resident family member.
Asylum, VAWA, and U&T Visa Applications:
-
- These applications are based on past traumatic experiences.
- A therapist examines trauma history and reports on the impact that trauma has had on the applicant and reports their conclusions in a written report.
The Evaluation Process
Unity Therapy Services provides quality immigration evaluations and an inclusive experience for clients across diverse backgrounds. We value cultural competence and our team stays up to date on all current research and government policy changes that impact immigration evaluations.
STEP 1: Provide a brief introduction to the evaluation process (bilingual Spanish therapists are available) and what the client can expect once we are finished. Evaluations are done in-person or through tele-health. We use HIPPA compliant telehealth technology.
STEP 2: Gather demographic information and relevant medical and mental health history. We conduct a thorough assessment to document any history of traumatic experiences as well as the psychological impact and personal circumstances that are pivotal to the case. We understand the sensitive nature of disclosing trauma and we maintain a high level of compassion and confidentiality.
STEP 3: Once the evaluation is complete, we will write a report consistent with the information gathered and send copies to your legal representation.
Distinction Between Therapy & Evaluations
There are elements of immigration evaluations that are distinctly different from the traditional therapy Unity Therapy Services provides. While it’s true that your exam is administered by a licensed mental health therapist, there are three major differences between an evaluation and an individual therapy session.
-
-
- Therapy is not being provided during an immigration exam.
- The information gathered is not confidential and may be read by legal and government officials in your case.
- We do not provide treatment or a diagnosis.
